The tour consists on a boat ride through the dramatic mangroves, swamps, swamp forests, saltwater, freshwater lagoons, marshes,
and both deciduous and evergreen forests of Palo Verde National Park.

During the wet season, the floodwater of the Tempisque River welcomes migrant birds from North and South America and the mammal fauna is equally rich, particularly during the dry season.
